Advance Payment Options
Advance Payment Option One: Pre-Inspection
Once you (the policyholder) provide a notice of loss, we may offer an advance payment after we confirm coverage and you validate that the insured property has flooded. This advance payment may not exceed $5,000.
An advance payment may be issued up to $10,000 if you provide the following documentation:
- Photographs depicting flood damage to covered property and:
- Documentation verifying out-of-pocket expenses related to the repair or replacement of covered property (such as receipts);
OR - A contractor’s itemized damage estimate.
- Documentation verifying out-of-pocket expenses related to the repair or replacement of covered property (such as receipts);
Advance Payment Option Two: Payment for Significant Damage
- We may offer an advance payment prior to receiving a proof of loss if:
- We receive a general contractor’s estimate of necessary repairs to the insured property;
AND - A flood insurance adjuster retained by the insurance company has inspected the property.
- Such payments may not exceed 50% of the general contractor’s estimate of necessary repairs to the insured property.
- We receive a general contractor’s estimate of necessary repairs to the insured property;
Advance Payment Guidance:
- For both options, you must be aware of the following conditions:
- The advance payment is NOT a payment for Additional Living Expenses (ALE). The Standard Flood Insurance Policy specifically excludes ALE.
- You must complete and sign an Advance Payment Request in order to qualify for an advance payment.
- Acceptance of an advance payment will not affect your right to see additional payments under the terms and conditions of your Standard Flood Insurance Policy.
- After the claim is settled, the final payment will be reduced by the amount of any advance payments made to the insured.
- We must include any mortgagee shown on the declarations page of the policy or any known mortgagee at the time of payment on the building property advance payment check.
- If the mortgagee shown on your declarations page is not correct, it must be corrected or added prior to the time an advance payment is made. Failure to do this may result in a delay in your ability to access advance payment funds.
- To finalize the claim, you must execute a proof of loss meeting the requirements of the Standard Flood Insurance Policy for all amounts received, including the amount of the advance payment.
